Tinkering For Good
For the very first time, Impact++ student developers have come together to find, design, and complete a project in a sandbox approach. By first contacting a wide gamut of non-profits and searching for any solutions to societal problems that technology could complement, the 2022-2023 team decided to collaborate with a local activism group La Resistencia. Founded in 2014, La Resistencia works actively to "free people detained by ICE, shut down Washington State’s privately-owned GEO Group’s detention center, and stop ICE from hunting down". By re-vamping their website and handling IT at their on-site office, this Impact++ team hopes to build a scalable/maintainable La Resistencia online presence to project their voice and build their audience.
